The Adam M-309 CarbonAero was developed by Burt Rutan, and was a technology demonstrator and built by Scaled Composites. The desin included a centerline arrangement of the Continental TSIO-550-E engine, to help aid critical engine issues and maintain control over the aircraft should an engine fail. The design also featured cabin pressurisation. Later the design was put to production as the A500 in 2002.
