The Airbus A350 XWB is a family of wide-body airliners developed by Airbus, optimised for long-range travels. Airbus initially intended to base the design off of their A330, however due to lack of market support, they subsequently opted for a clean-sheet design under the XWB name, which stands for “extra wide body”. The A350 XWB comprised of carbon fibre reinforced polymer wing and fuselage construction, a glass cockpit and powered by Rolls-Royce Trent engines. The A350 was equipped with advanced avionics, and was designed to compete with the Boeing 777 and 787 in the aviation market. The initial variant is designated A350-900.
