Diamond Da42 Twin Star

The Diamond DA42 Twin Star is a four seat, twin engine, propeller-driven airplane. In the late 1990’s Diamond Aircraft Industries invested in developing a twin-engined aircraft, this was the first time a multi-engine aircraft was conceptualised by the firm.The DA42 was also the first new, multi-engine model manufactured in Europe, with the latest aircraft introduced 25 year prior in the category. This concept focused on significant new aspects, such as the necessity for the aircraft to be easy to operate, improved fuel-efficiency, while ensuring that the four seat passanger compartment is of remarkable quality and comfort. Eventhough the concept was not popular at the time, the DA42 had became a success, holding around 80% of the piston twin market up until productions were suspended. During 2004, the DA42 Twin Star became the first diesel-powered fixed-wing aircraft to perform a non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic.
