Diamond DA50

The Diamond DA50, a five-seat, single-engine composite aircraft by Diamond Aircraft Industries, had its maiden flight on 4 April 2007. Initially designed for various engines, it was certified with a Continental CD-300 diesel engine on 9 September 2020.

The Diamond DA50 featured a large cabin and options for different powerplants, including a Continental TSIO-550-J and Ivchenko-Progress Motor Sich AI-450S turboprop. However, economic challenges halted its progress in 2009. By September 2020, the DA50 RG received EASA certification, boasting a 300 hp Continental CD-300 diesel engine, 50 US gallons fuel capacity, and a 750 nautical mile range. FAA certification followed in July 2023.

The DA50 RG includes features such as double-slotted flaps, retractable landing gear, Garmin G1000 NXi flightdeck with autopilot, and single lever power controls. Optional equipment comprises a removable right-hand control stick, on-board oxygen system, electric-powered air conditioning, TKS de-icing system, and a Garmin GCU 476 input keypad.
