The Embraer E-Jet family is a series of narrow-body twinjet commercial airliners, produced by Embraer. For the initial model, Embraer choose to pursue the clean-sheet EMB 170 design, rather than further developing their ERJ 145 aircraft to compose the new 70-seat EMB 170 jetliner, later re-designated E170. The design comprised of a twin engine arrangement with General Electric CF34-8E powerplants, and utilising the “double bubble” format to facilitate for a stand-up cabin. The E190 was an enhanced and re-engined derivant of the E170, powered by twin General Electric CF34-10E engines, equipped with FADEC. The E190 offered seating for up to 114, in a comfortable cabin. The E190 was a strong competitor for aircraft such as the Bombardier CRJ-1000, Boeing 717 or the Airbus A318.
