Eurocopter As 355 N

The Eurocopter AS355 Écureuil 2, is a twin-engine light utility helicopter. The AS350 was originally designed and produced by Aérospatiale and Eurocopter, and is now manufactured by Airbus Helicopters. Aérospatiale identified the need of a civil-oriented aircraft in the 1970s, following the production of their Gazelle aircraft which had not sold adequately in the commercial market. The firm started developing an economic and affordable rotorcraft, which became the single engine AS350 Écureuil. The firm soon decided to introduce the twin engine variant, named the AS355 Écureuil 2, which was then further developed. One of the latest additions to the family is the AS355 N, with enhanced performance as a result of two Turbomeca Arrius A1 engines, and FADEC system fitted to increase max. takeoff weight.
