Introduced in 1979, the Piper PA-44-180 Seminole is a light, twin-engine aircraft, that became successful in personal aviation as well as flight training schools. The design of the Seminole was an enhancement of the predecessing Piper Cherokee. The Piper PA-44-180 Seminole first flown in 1976, the new design for this series of aircrafts featured two counter-rotating Lycoming O-360-E1A6 (and LO-360-E1A6) engines, to help eliminate critical engine issues.
